We’re two weeks into the year. Odds are you’ve already slacked off on your resolutions. It happens, mainly because resolutions for a full year never work.
So here are some questions to ask yourself now:
- What projects could you knock out in 175 hours?
- What 50 tools would you like to get better at using?
- What are 11 areas where you’d really like to develop some expertise?
Breaking Down Your Resolutions
I seem to work best and accomplish the most when I can break things into bite-sized chunks. It’s not only easier to swallow, but it also doesn’t give me indigestion.
If you can spare 30 minutes a day over the next 350 days, you’ve got 175 hours at your disposal. Big, HUGE things can be done with 175 hours of work.
Why not pick a web application or software to dig into once a week for the next 50 weeks? What could you do with strong knowledge in 50 different apps by the end of the year?
Pick a proficiency you want to develop each month, and dive in. Wanna get a handle on Google Analytics? Article marketing? Blogging? A month of consistent work should do the trick, at least for a strong foundation to grow from.
Give up on the New Year’s Resolution thing. Pick something you can inch toward now, do something every day, and you’ll be shocked where you end up by Christmas.
