I love this analogy. Forget the battle going on these days about if advertising is dead or not. That’s not the point. The point is that if you want that girl to see you winking, you better figure out a way to turn on the freakin’ lights.

Eugene Beauth the former VP of Advertising for J Walter Thompson Denver Co. for having coined that saying. He first used it in a meeting I was present in with United Airlines and Drug Free USA as he explained why we needed their help to make people aware of the up and coming killer drug called crack and United did donate 400 K to help promote a Drug Free USA.
